Reviewer Guidelines
Annals of the College of Medicine, Mosul is Confidential, Double-Blind Peer Review, multidisciplinary medical journal. The journal follows a double-blind peer review process to ensure fairness and objectivity. Neither the authors nor the reviewers are informed of each other’s identities.
We welcome submissions in all fields of medical and health sciences:
- Original Research
- Review Articles
- Case Reports
- Letter to Editor
Role and Responsibilities of Reviewers
By accepting to review a manuscript, reviewers agree to:
- Evaluate the manuscript critically and constructively.
- Provide detailed, clear comments to help authors improve.
- Submit their review within 2–3 weeks (extensions available on request).
- Maintain strict confidentiality—do not share, discuss, or use the manuscript content.
- Disclose any conflicts of interest.
- Report potential research or publication misconduct.
- Review revised versions of the manuscript if requested.
- Provide objective and evidence-based recommendations.
- Not attempt to contact the authors or reveal their identity.
Evaluation Criteria
While reviewing, please assess:
Originality & Novelty |
Does the paper present new and significant contributions? |
Scientific Merit |
Is the methodology sound? Are conclusions supported by data? |
Ethical Compliance |
Is there any suspected plagiarism, manipulation, or ethical concern? |
Clarity & Structure |
Is the manuscript well-organized, grammatically sound, and easy to understand? |
References |
Are relevant studies cited properly? Any missing or unnecessary citations? |
Figures/Tables |
Are visuals relevant, clear, and of publishable quality? |
Statistical Analysis |
Are statistical methods sound? Are error bars and p-values described accurately? |
Relevance to Journal |
Is the manuscript within scope? Is it relevant and useful to our readers? |
Tone & Conduct
- Maintain professional and respectful tone in all comments.
- Avoid personal criticism.
- Back up your statements with evidence and references.
- If unsure about a specific element (e.g., a dataset), indicate it clearly in your report.
Report Format
Please include the following in your review:
- Summary of Key Findings: What are the strengths?
- Major Concerns: What must be revised or improved?
- Minor Suggestions: Grammar, spelling, references, etc.
- Recommendation:
- Accept
- Minor Revision
- Major Revision
- Reject
You may also include confidential comments to the editor, but they should not contradict your public review.

- We recognize reviewers annually (unless anonymity is preferred).
- Certificates of review are available upon request.
