Aim and Scope
The AL-Rafidain Journal of Computer Sciences and Mathematics (RJCSM) at the University of Mosul publishes original, rigorously reviewed research at the interface of computer science and mathematics. RJCSM's identity rests on this two-way relationship: work in which mathematical theory, modelling, or methodology advances computational problems, and work in which computational or algorithmic problems motivate new mathematical methods. The journal does not treat computer science and mathematics as two independent subject lists — every submission should make its mathematical–computational connection explicit in the abstract and introduction.
RJCSM particularly welcomes contributions in:
Mathematical modelling and analysis of computational and networked systems — stochastic, graph-theoretic, or optimization-based models of wireless, vehicular, IoT, or distributed systems
Algorithmic and computational aspects of discrete mathematics — graph theory, combinatorics, and their application to network and system design
Numerical analysis and scientific computing — computational methods for simulation, engineering, and physical modelling
Optimization theory and operations research applied to computing, networking, and AI systems
Statistical and probabilistic foundations of machine learning and data science — including performance analysis of learning and network systems
Mathematical foundations, formal methods, and complexity theory of algorithms and AI systems
Control theory and dynamical systems applied to autonomous, robotic, or cyber-physical systems
RJCSM does not seek submissions that fall wholly within one discipline without a demonstrable computational–mathematical connection — for example, purely descriptive software-engineering case studies without formal or quantitative analysis, or purely abstract pure-mathematics results without stated relevance to computational problems.
Trending Topics at the Intersection of Computer Science and Mathematics
Recently, the following areas represent active research directions where mathematical methods and computational problems most directly meet, and where RJCSM particularly encourages submissions:
Graph-theoretic and optimization models for network and IoT systems — algorithmic foundations of wireless, vehicular, and edge-computing networks
Statistical learning theory and the mathematical foundations of explainable AI (XAI) — formal interpretability, generalization bounds, and uncertainty quantification
Computational and algorithmic complexity of quantum computing — quantum algorithms, complexity classes, and mathematical models of quantum systems
Cryptographic and number-theoretic foundations of blockchain and cybersecurity — formal security models and their computational analysis
Numerical and stochastic modelling for edge computing and IoT resource allocation
Probabilistic and formal-methods approaches to natural language processing and generative AI
Mathematical models for energy-aware and sustainable computing — optimization of energy-performance trade-offs in large-scale systems
Computational mathematics in bioinformatics — graph and network models of biological systems, algorithmic sequence analysis
Dynamical systems and control-theoretic models for robotics and autonomous systems
Formal and statistical models of human-computer interaction — quantitative and algorithmic approaches to interface and interaction design
